ToffeePopsPaul_46: Hi Paul, I am wondering if you are the same Paul that replied to a question of mine a few days ago, then disconnected before I could reply...14:48
ToffeePopsI am having trouble with slow notes inserting into mantis14:49
ToffeePopss/inserting/insertion/14:49
Paul_46probably14:56
Paul_46did I say do you have it set to send emails via cron job?14:57
ToffeePopsHi Paul. We have approx 5255 mantis issues and number of notes approx 11600.15:05
ToffeePopsPaul_46: I'm not aware that we send mails via separate cron jobs - we pretty much use mantis 'out of the box' so other than setting mail server, port etc the settings will be defaults. We seem to get notifications pretty quickly (well within a minute or so of a change).15:05
ToffeePopsSo that doesn't sound like a deferred cron job... or is cron running every minute?15:06
Paul_46in which case15:32
Paul_46it' probably being slow adding the notes15:32
Paul_46because it's sending out one of more mails [or failing to send]15:32
Paul_46obvious one for the 'failing to send bit' - under /admin there's a testmails or something php file15:32
Paul_46that shows a list of any mails stuck in the queue15:32
Paul_46[in fact, think it's called mail queue or something]15:32
ToffeePopsOk, thanks for the tip. I'm not aware of any email failures (but will check server).15:42
ToffeePopsHowever, our mail server is over SSL and external... so this may explain the sluggishness (if adding notes is dependent on sending emails 'inline').15:43
ToffeePopsSo basically if we enable emails via a cron job this won't slow down notes any more, but it will mean there could be quite a delay before notifications are sent? Bugger15:45
