istvanbare you here?06:31
dhx1istvanb: hi, it's your lucky day? :D06:32
istvanb:)06:32
istvanbI have just a quick question to you06:32
istvanbhttp://www.mantisbt.org/bugs/view.php?id=11684#c2720206:32
istvanbhere you said there is a recent change committed which may solve some of the problems06:32
istvanbcan you just give me a quick hint what can I expect from this change?06:33
dhx1istvanb: the bug update page should not reset custom fields like it used to do06:33
dhx1istvanb: previously if you went to the bug update page it'd forget the custom field values and when you went to submit the form, your custom field settings would be reset to defaults/blanks06:34
dhx1istvanb: I do plan on looking at the issue very shortly (I have freed up some more time)06:34
istvanbI see06:36
istvanbI have just one more quick question before you run away06:36
istvanbI want to add a checkbox to issues06:36
istvanbthe checkbox should not appear in the report page (and it is not required) but should appear on all the rest06:37
istvanbnow... the problem is this: it does not appear on the report page, but on the update I have to check it or else it says something wrong06:38
istvanbit says something like: the checkbox has to be checked <--- not exactly this, but it dont let me move forward until I check it06:38
dhx1istvanb: is this with the latest nightly build of the 1.2.x branch?06:39
istvanbno this is with the latest stable release of 1.2.306:39
dhx1istvanb: this is the bug I mentioned being fixed at the end of #1168406:39
dhx1istvanb: this commit solved the problem you describe: http://git.mantisbt.org/?p=mantisbt.git;a=commit;h=89c9f85add9c3a4393904da84fa04711ca7575f506:40

istvanbso if I overwrite my 1.2.3 with this one than is it supposed to work as expected?06:41
dhx1yeah it should do06:41
istvanbawesome! I will definitely give it a try!06:41
istvanbthanks a lot man!06:42
dhx1I'll empty my "merge queue" and then we can hopefully roll out 1.2.406:42
dhx1istvanb: no problem, thanks for testing/reporting issues :)06:42
istvanbhey! I also contribute on the help forums :)06:42
istvanband actually want to start a youtube channel with mantis basics06:42
dhx1istvanb: I don't follow the forums so apologies for overlooking your contributions there :)06:43

dhx1istvanb: you probably know Roland (atrol) then from the forums?06:43

istvanbI have deleted the bugtracker table from my sql database and tried to install the commit above06:57
istvanbAPPLICATION ERROR #290006:57
istvanbthats what I got06:57
istvanb:(06:57
dhx1how did you "install" the commit?06:59
istvanbI have droped the existing bugtracker table07:00
dhx1try replacing your MantisBT installation (after backing it up) with this: http://git.mantisbt.org/?p=mantisbt.git;a=snapshot;h=master-1.2.x;sf=tgz07:00

dhx1ah I see, my misunderstanding07:01
istvanbI left our live one intact :)07:01
dhx1I thought this was on a live site07:01
istvanbthat would be a little bit radical :)07:01
dhx1remove the files you have in your test directory, extract the latest snapshot I linked to above07:01
dhx1add the configuration files back, and try again?07:01
istvanbnow we are talking07:03
istvanbthis one just works fine!07:03
dhx1:)07:04
istvanboops07:05
istvanbit seems I have talked to early07:05
istvanbok... I think we are good now! For a second I was scared that I can not make it work. But it looks alright! Maybe the first link you have provided just works as fine as this, but I made a mistake07:07
istvanbthanks for helping me out07:07
dhx1no problem07:07

AlesHi, I would like to ask for help in the matter of custom fields (severity). I've created custom_constants_inc.php and custom_strings_inc.php. Save them in Core folder and added $g_severity_enum_string to config_inc.php file with new values included. But I still get @51@. The numbers are not duplicated in config_inc.php.  Thanx07:55
nuclear_eclipseAles: can you post yor custom_* and config_inc.php to pastebin.com?07:56
dhx1Ales: sanitise passwords first of course :)07:57
dhx1nuclear_eclipse: howdy07:57
nuclear_eclipsehi dhx1 :)07:57
dhx1nuclear_eclipse: I hope my dev ml email didn't scare too much :)07:58

dhx1no hurry :)07:58

dhx1Ales: custom_strings_inc.php is wrong, use this instead:08:13
dhx1$s_severity_enum_string = '10:feature,50:minor,51:normal,70:crash,60:major,81:blocker';08:13
dhx1ie. $s_ instead of $g_08:13
dhx1and both the $s_ and $g_ (from config_inc.php) strings need to match up08:13
Alesthanx, but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem, I still get @51@ and @81@ in drop down08:19
dhx1nuclear_eclipse: PHP 5.4 alpha is due in a few days (greatly reduced memory footprint)08:19
dhx1Ales: hmmm, perhaps it's cached? can you restart the web server?08:22
Alessure08:23
dhx1Ales: which version of MantisBT are you using?08:24
Alesstil the same, latest I've installed for the first time about a week ago, 1.208:26
dhx1oh you said you placed custom_strings_inc.php in the core folder... this file should be placed in the mantisbt root directory instead08:27
dhx1ditto for custom_constants_inc.php08:28
Alesyeee, thank you, working, except I don't get custom field as default, it is stil "feature" although I've set up "normal" as default in config_inc08:31
dhx1read through config_defaults_inc.php for more options related to custom severities08:32
dhx1you will need to change default severity options, etc to match your new enumerations08:32
Alesok, I'll do that, have a nice day and thanx for help08:33
dhx1Ales: no problem, hope it goes well :)08:34

dhx1nope09:38
dhx1bug_format_id() lets plugins completely change/control the presentation of bug IDs09:39

dhx1fun times!09:39
paulroh dear09:42
paulrperformance--((09:42
dhx1it's not too bad because we mostly forget to pretty format bug IDs anyhow :P09:45
dhx1it's not much of a hit compared to lang_api and the lack of autoloading classes09:46
dhx1string_display_ functions are poor performers too09:46
dhx1and I'm actually using them wrong in many cases09:46
dhx1(afaik)09:46

paulr<dhx1> bug_format_id() lets plugins completely change/control the presentation of bug IDs09:55
paulrdare I ask09:55
paulror well09:55
paulrin fact09:55
dhx1I guess a plugin could lookup the project of the bug ID and apply a prefix to the bug ID09:55
dhx1etc09:55
paulrand not quite sure how templating fixes that ;p09:55
dhx1well templating fixes the messy string_display_ calls everywhere09:56
paulrnot exactly or well, yea, not exactly :)09:57
paulrit probably moves them if anything09:57
paulras where string_display sets up hyperlinks etc09:57
dhx1yeah some of them can have special purposes10:01
dhx1but the templating approach would essentially automatically escape all variables used in the template10:02
dhx1and I guess we *may* need to override that if we need to dump raw HTML10:02
dhx1but I'd rather we avoid that as much as possible10:02
dhx1it's generally a sign things are being done wrong10:03

dhx1randallj: you can modify the CSS at present but theming (changing the XHTML) is more or less not possible at the moment (without hacking lots of PHP code)19:33
dhx1randallj: allowing themes (templates to let you change the XHTML output with ease) is a very high priority19:33
dhx1randallj: you can check out the developer mailing list from the past few months for a lot of discussion on the topic19:33
randalljdhx1..I have been doing a lot of reading and searching on this topic...I realize I could edit the CSS, and would accept that as "theming"...and before I spent the time to modify the CSS myself, I was wondering if there weren't some existing modified CSS files I could apply to my installation19:36
